Slate Bellied Junco

I'd imagine it is tough to get these critters in sharp focus as they're moving often and quickly. It seems the eyes are in focus but much of the face is not. I'm not sure if that is because he/she started to move during the shot or not. Regardless very nicely composed, but I find the odd focus/motion a bit distracting.

Jim, this is not one of my better photographs. I shot this through a glass window and I think that is what is causing the anomaly that you observed. I posted it more for a record shot in this folder. But thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment. Regards.

Just my opinion. I think there's too much empty space with a lot going on at right

I was thinking the same thing as Jim - I generally want a very sharp eye on a bird and preferably a little more than that. I love the muted colors of the background and just wish he had been a bit sharper.

Thanks Colin, I liked how the color looked in this too. And thank you Mike. Personally I enjoy the angle of the bird's body in relation to the branches. I feel, if I may say so myself, that there is a certain grace about the scene. Regards.

A certain grace? And then some: I think this resembles a panel of a Japanese shoji. Shame about the focus thing, it's elegant otherwise.
