Wayne Sadler 592 Posted August 23, 2022 “Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake” – Henry David Thoreau --- Sometimes an awning, any awning when the sun is right, can cast a spell that transports me and replays a dream so real of Piazza San Marco in Venice. Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 24, 2022 Hi Wayne, an appealing composition with colors that go well with the scene. What I like the most about this painting is how the bright sunlight is filtered through the awnings and changes the colors underneath, very realistic yet with a poetic quality to it. I can see how such a scene can transport you into your vivid memories of Piazza San Marco. A nice detail is the red of the wall in the background echoed in the shirt of one of the guests. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted August 24, 2022 Wayne, I find this image a bit more realistic than some of your work, especially based on spotting people seated at a table. Don't get me wrong; there's plenty of artistic touches as well. Example: the awnings. Please give Henry my best regards; he certainly has brightened my life in many ways, as you have. - -My best always, michael Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 592 Posted August 28, 2022 Thanks, Vincent. You seem to understand the scene as I did. The light through the awning does have an effect on you. I didn't notice until processing the resonating colors of the wall and diner. I smiled at the bonus. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 592 Posted August 28, 2022 Thanks, Michael. This image seemed to demand this more realistic treatment. I think I was going after the strangely real world of a lucid dream. Link to comment
