While working on this image the term “Dutch Realism” came to mind. An internet search revealed why. Much of what is called Dutch Realism is characterized by a precise realistic style of painting like that of a Willem Koekkoek or a Vermeer. This image started out as a much looser impressionistic piece that somehow morphed into something akin to a painting made with the aid of a camera obscura. How that happened I don’t know, but I really like the work of Koekkoek and Vermeer.
