Oh my. The neutral hues; the lines receding and vertical; the parallel oblique lines of the sign and umbrella; the red, orange and green dialogue and the human form that masks even the eyes all brought together in a drama designed by McRitchie. Brilliant work, Jack.

Jack, if I tried to draft comments, I'd be afraid of plagiarizing those already posted. Sufficient to say that the image has a natural appearance and feel. Your magic, as demonstrated here, is to take an ordinary scene like this one and transform it into into art.- - My best always, michael

I can not agree with Michael more.

I am amazed by the image details, texture of the wall and the redinition of colors, I checked the camera's name, and read a review about it m they gave it a score of 80, and I realized their tricks in making us changes our cameras and buy a new one, no matter what and how much they score it, I know exactly what I am seeing .

Great image .

Hi Jack,

an appealing, but in a way sad image. It's a sign of our times, this almost completely dehumanized environment where a faceless traveller moves through an ordered chaos of concrete, steel, stone, iron and glass. Luckily there are small elements in your photo that remind us of a former human existence; the three patches of warm red and orange color that seem to form an invisible line in your composition: the sticker on the pole next to the right edge of the frame, the lady's bag and umbrella handle and the flowers against the wall. As always, neatly composed and with a masterful DoF. Great work! Kind regards, Vincent

My dear friend Jack: First things first. My e-mail last response to you was on 25 June (only two days ago), so I am hopeful I am up to date with our correspondence. Not so in my keeping up with your recent - and most appreciated and welcome postings - a bit many for me to make comments on all of them, as I crave to do. Your recent postings are so uniquely rubricated and unmistakeably stamped by the uniquely personal Mr. McRitchie. Secondly, my humble and personal appreciation for your returning back to enrich PN with your unique Photography (note capital P). A real privilege for me, in many dimensions. As pertains to your image, your freezing so many different and uniquely identifiable elements, that each speaks for itself, sending a message to the attentive viewer. It lacks nothing. It does not have anything to discard. You masterfully made the person with the umbrella an enigmatic and evocative image, masterfully balanced with the sign slanting in a startlingly and subtly observed different degrees of inclination. In summary, I was able to be right next to you looking perhaps through the same eyepiece, but your admirable adroitness and experience was the one pushing the shutter. So very glad to see you back. As always, my very best. DG

It is fun that I immediately could see that this is one of Jack's images just looking at the thumbnail. You have certainly developed a personal style. Best regards, Arthur. PS I'm still struggling.
