tai 3 Posted June 24, 2020 An expressive shot, Giangiorgio! Creepy birds! The observers in the frame seem to be waiting for something. Or are they eating something? An interesting scene is perfectly captured! Amazing colors! Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 475 Posted June 24, 2020 Tatiana I'm glad you enjoyed these photos. Thanks for your beautiful comment, Your question is very interesting. On the ground, the vultures collide with each other to establish the order in which they will feed. ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment

michaellinder 16,612 Posted June 28, 2020 Giangiorgio, although both photos of these Griffons are equal in quality, I chose this one for comment, indeed, due primarily to one element only. The birds are engaged in a serious fight, with one on the right taking up an offensive posture by leading with its talons. The left-hand bird's body language appears to be strictly defensive. Both birds are airborne, as is also obvious from their wings being spread wide open. Now on to the element to which I alluded. These birds fighting while in flight are clearly using enormous amounts of energy, more so than the energy output used in flight only. It is this energy, this dynamism, that differentiates this image from its companion. Animals battling their own kind do so either for food or to obtain a mate. - - My best always, Michael - - Ciao! (PS) I'm still catching up after my long hiatus, so I'll appreciate a bit of patience.) Link to comment
