vincentoiseau 83 Posted February 15, 2019 I was too late for the weekly market, but I could capture a part of the last stage of the breaking down of the market stalls, which was quite interesting too. The name campo de' fiori refers to a field of flowers that was here once, not to the flower market. This is a scan of an Ilford FP 4 negative . Your comments are very welcome. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 15, 2019 I love this panorama shot of a Roman plaza and the men breaking down their displays after days market. I think more than any other city, Rome incorporates the past into the present. Walking through the city is like walking through the pages of history with new surprises around every corner. Without the cars parked on the left, this photo could have been taken during almost any decade of the 20th Century. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted February 16, 2019 Hi Jack, I agree with you about the past being incorporated into the present; the past is simply everywhere you look in Rome. I guess that creates a collective sense of historical awareness. Thanks for your insightful comments! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

DGorinstein 20 Posted September 1, 2019 Hello Vincent: Ahhhhh, the pleasure of viewing a BW image, immediately taking me (or maybe other observers) to a not so distant past, but indeed a long time ago, managing to revive old times in a small savory Italian town (savory because you were able to imbue that flavor to your image). Your post-processing, soft sepia tones with carefully managed soft contrast is masterful, while the ominous dark, face beneath the hood of the overlooking statue dominating the square. What a scene! I thoroughly enjoy it. DG Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 1, 2019 Hi Daniel, thank you very much for these elaborate, well-worded comments that are becoming so rare these days! I appreciate your reference to the 'small savory Italian town' , because you were aware of the fact that this image was made in Rome, not terribly long ago, but in today's world 35 years is a stretch, and so much has happened since 1984. This after-market photo does indeed have a small-town quality that you won't find easily in a modern Italian city. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
pablowarko 1 Posted October 17, 2019 Interesting contrast between the cars on the left and the flower carts on the right, Vincent. It must of been something to watch them teardown the stalls. The composition fits the scene very well. The tones appear to reflect reality. An excellent view into the past done with excellent skills. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted October 18, 2019 Hi Paul, thank you for your very friendly and appreciative comments! Although it's been 35 years since I shot this image, I can still 'feel' it like it was a few years ago. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 19, 2020 Hi Evgeny, thank you for another well appreciated comment! I see this photo that I made in 1984 as a piece of 'frozen history' too, which makes it all the more interesting now, not only from a personal perspective. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
jekamobile 110 Posted July 19, 2020 One day I caught myself thinking gratefully about my buddies from childhood who were crazy about photography. They carried their cheap film cameras everywhere taking pictures of us: what a time! Now those are the only evidence that we all had been there. Huge thanks to them all. Your photograph just shook those memories. Thanks again! Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 19, 2020 Hi Evgeny, what a wonderful and personal comment! Thanks for commenting like this; it's very good to hear about memories brought back by a photo, it pleases me to have inspired that by this photo that I made on a study trip to Rome (I studied the history of art).
