You need a little imagination for this one, the ice cracks and dirt and roots looked like an alien under ice to me. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Holger, you must have been channeling horror/sci-fi films when you shot this. It reminds me of the more recent version of "The Thing," and another fairly recent film with the basic story line that scientists uncover in polar ice a completely frozen "cave man" and take him to their lab, thaw him out, and reap the consequences. This image clearly demonstrates how ice and fallen leaves make for an effective abstract. The bold contrast certainly helps, as does the ice's texture. - - My best, michael

Thank you Michael, I gave it a little help with the low key effect in PS elements. Had to even out the eyes. Otherwise this is very close to what I saw while walking by... caught my eye, see you soon my friend..............Holger

Whoa! Methinks it’s Boris Karloff under there. Hope you have a super telephoto lens for when he breaks through!! Marvelous abstract!

This is a really good shot, Holger with a sense of dark mystery, like finding yourself caught in a nightmare from which you wish you could awaken. I wouldn't have guessed that this was your photo but more power to you for avoiding the confines of categorization and discovering a new direction..
