Machu Picchu appears to lie at the center of a network of related sites and many landmarks both man-made and mountainous appear to align with astronomical events like the solstice sunset. The Inca had no written language, so they left no record of why they built the site or how they used it before it was abandoned in the early 16th century.

Rosario I am enjoying your images very much, I have dream of been there and I get fascinated every time I see Images of Machu Picchu! Miami Has a Restaurant with its name, and a giant image on its wall, I sit there and enjoy the site for hours!

The Inca’s achievements and skills are all the more impressive in light of the knowledge they lacked. When Machu Picchu was built some 500 years ago the Inca had no iron, no steel, and no wheels. Their tremendous effort apparently benefited relatively few people—some experts maintain that fewer than a thousand individuals lived here.

The view is the same but I always find new details to look at, your image view large is superb@

Warm regards and take good care my friend.

Hello Chris. Thank you for your visit and kind comments.

Hi Jorge, Thanks for the information accompanying the image, and of course for your kind words. I've  been in Machu Picchu many times, and never ceases to amaze me. It is not just the stone buildings, but also by the majesty of the surrounding mountains... It is like a mystical place!

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

It is an iconic scene and very well done. One day I will get there also.  Would you be able to extract a bit More detail from the left side of the sky? Does not really make a big difference if you can't because I will still enjoy the scene.
