If you have seen the image before this one, you will have seen the

young boy who spent some time with me sharing his frogs and

adventures one sunny August afternoon. I decided to be a bit more

creative with this image. Young Riley was so careful not to drop

these 'friends' of his. They were more than 'just frogs'. This young

frog perched upon Riley's hand reminds me of us sometimes. We

are often in a position where we are afraid to look at what may lie

ahead, preferring to stay in that 'safe place' rather than even dare to

peer into the future. There can be many reasons for feeling this way.

But one thing I do know, it is always so soothing to know that

someone is there who cares enough to shield us from any danger

that may befall us. Yet there are those times, where no matter what

precautions we have put in place, we will experience times that are

not pleasant. I think if we are fortunate, we will be given the strength

or we dare to reach deep down inside to find the strength, to face

these difficult times. I find it reassuring to have come to a place in life

where I am confidante that I am never really 'alone'. Someone walks

beside me, and when I come out on the other side, hopefully I will be

able to help someone else who may be facing similar circumstances.

(your visits and thoughts shared are always welcomed - Gail :)

I like your commentary and the photo. They kind of merge together into a nice whole. The image by itself is good too. I like it a lot.

Most impressive, the sepia on the rest emphasizes the difference between the frog and the man or let's put another way - not belonging to the whole scene! It doesn't mean that I don't "approve" the intervention, on the contrary!

Best regards, Gail!

I like this one a lot... I personally would have probably gone with a square crop, removing most of the left side. Just a personal view though, and a very good image nonetheless...

Interesting picture, and I especially like the work of post processing, and tone you've given to  it. In addition to the picture, I liked your words, so full of feeling. I have noticed a more optimistic note, Gail, is it? Just remember that after every storm the sun will shine; for every problem there is a solution.

Warm Regards,

Rosario

Hi Gail...i like the image a lot...the tones are great...i've thought about the contrast between the tones on the frog and those for the rest of your image...the frog stands out as the main subject against the sepia...i'm always thinking about how much of a layer I want interacting with the others...i probably would have integrated the sepia/texture into the frog a little more but it wouldn't make it any less or more effective imo...it's a personal vision...regards....David

I had thought of not revealing colour in the frog, but this image was part of a story in the previous posting-I just took it into a bit more creative zone. The young boy had been posing the frogs on his hands for me, yet was so careful not to drop, or even did not want the frog to get hurt if it jumped. I decided to have the colour on the frog, wanting the eye to travel to it first. My thoughts were travelling to those times when we feel we are precariously perched, not sure if we can hang on, not sure if we should, not sure if we were to venture away from our 'comfort zone', if things would not be so bad after all. My thoughts wandered towards young children who do not have the life skills to make these decisions. How scary it must be for them to even have to ponder these thoughts. Thanks David for your thoughts, always enjoy you sharing and stopping by :) Gail

Yes, things are getting better - as I know they would. I am trusting what remains to be a worry will soon be resolved for the better. Sometimes we are not the one who make the decisions-we can only believe that there will be a Positive Outcome. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your concern. Your encouragement is so appreciated Rosario! :) Gail

Gail,

You are an artist, a philosopher, and a technician.  This looks like the boy's hand is inside of a sewer pipe or similar structure.  You capture the macro frog so well, Bravo!  You also create drama with the dirt, texture, and sepia hand.  You are a delight.  Larry
