A nice treatment of the elements in this picture. I also like the texture and toning. And the sky has just the right atmospheric quality of desolation. A good one...gs

Bela, I like what you did here, the greenish layering and a touch of darkness. The flow is well worked, moving from left to right and back to the left, a lot of motion you created. The only thing I would do a bit different is to take a step to the left to perhaps give a bit more separation between the tree and the house.

Really like the tones in and the tone of the shot. Not quite sure I like the look of scratches in the sky. I'd have to see it without those as comparison. Bela exhibits a nice eye here. Agree with tony that a bit more separation between the house and tree might have worked slightly better, but again, I'd have to see it in comparison to get a better idea.

It has the look of a movie set, where the sky seems like a painted backdrop and the foreground, including the house, has an inorganic feel, the sharpening being so pronounced. As there's a randomness of the withered wood, the lone tree stump butting visually against the house doesn't bother me. On the contrary, it sets up a bit of tension and spontaneity, which placing it differently would likely have made appear more studied and mannered. With a lighter touch, or a heavier touch that had a little more flair while being in tune with the content, I'd like this more.

The scene itself is not without its charms. The composition is solid if a little busy.
I'm not convinced that the heavy texture added to the sky contributes anything.
As has been mentioned, the over-sharpening give the scene an unnatural feel.
Another unnatural look which strikes immediately upon viewing is the inexplicable darkness on the roof and chimneys of the building and the blackness of the upper portion of the upright foreground tree. When I checked the color version of this image located in the same folder, my suspicions were confirmed. It appears that a gradient was pulled down on the image from the top to darken the sky. While the dark sky works fine, a mask should have been used on the building and tree to avoid the odd result of both being unnaturally blackened.
Overall a nice image which could have been nicer with more prudent post production.

I too am not particularly fond of what appears to be added texture in the sky. If possible, Bela should have allowed the clouds to speak for themselves or, if necessary, to have added selective tonal variation. Otherwise, the image impresses me because of the mood created by the solitary house and the dead tree and branches.

I like the texture and mood it conveys. The stepped up planes that give depth via the twisted and almost organic gnarled trees at each level. Planes drawing the eye to the lonely bare house on a hill) with its sole lighted door to promise something interesting even if not refuge from a gathering cloudburst.) The house as elusive and yet promising with its solitary dormer has such character and is is well placed well as part of this barely inhabited intriguing

landscape. As a creation by the photographer as well... I'd say Bela has done well in his treatment of his subject by his processing of texture, without overdoing that textural treatment.

To me It holds interest, stands out as a strange landscape, leading the eye up over the field past torn trees to the stormy clouds and the lone refuge, a mystery lodging with one lighted door. A noble combination of elements.

This is a Halloween scene. It feels so much like the opening to horror movie that I wondered is this is a composite.

Whatever it is, it is well done. Leave it alone. Tamper with one atom and you will ruin it.

Hi, Bela!

Excellent work! Well composed and with that great mood that most of your pictures have! All the best, Tamara

Late to the party. I like the picture as it is and I agree with Alex's comment. However, I think it would be just as good in a non-sepia, non-textured, black and white rendition.

I like the texture you added to the image, the sky as well. It gives it a sort of creepy mystery, and has me looking around the image. I don't like the tree branch in the foreground because of too many highlights distracting me from the main focus, and the branches are pointing away from the the main focus causing the flow to be disrupted as well.
I think the house with the texture on its own, with your perspective and composition would have been perfect.

The top left 25% would work better without all of that carefully stacked wood in the foreground. This would be one of those cases where less is more.
