alfbailey 4 Posted January 23, 2012 Wow! this is impressive! I really like the perspective and the composition. The sketch drawing effect is excellent, (Any clues to your processing would be appreciated) And the figure on the steps is the icing on the cakeI love lighthouses too, but invariabley I photograph the outside of them, this has inspired some new idea's.Sincere Compliments 7Alf Link to comment
richard_john_edwards 0 Posted January 23, 2012 Katie, of your light house images i like this one the best, The introduction of a human fugure gives scale and depth to the image, I like the very high contrast nature of the image, the composition is perfect. I am not a fan of teh white vignetting but i think it works in this image (did i just say that) Very Nicely Done, ill give this one a 7 Link to comment
katie_clarke1 0 Posted January 23, 2012 Thank you for the nice thought everyone. Alf, this was done in part by using Nik Software, Silver Efex. I first used an old fashioned filter which creates a soft old time creamy look, sort of like an old albumen print. I then converted it into black and white adding some structure/details back into the image. K.C. Link to comment
fara_spence 0 Posted January 24, 2012 This image reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, and the sense of vertigo is one that's in your face. The fact that we do not see where the staircase leads up and down adds dramatic pause. Looking at the stairway upward is like looking down into a deep tunnel. There are many elements happening here, with little details that support an eerie quality. The woman holding the banister seems hesitant, even fearful. The graphic quality is dark, however there is a feminine sense as well, such as the black lines that occassionally frame the image, and the little curl on the right hand side. I like how the brick isn't noticed right away, and when it is, the claustrophic arrangement explains why the photograph is surreal and hints at danger. Link to comment
