stp 6 Posted July 6, 2011 It's a bit dark, but the irregular piece of ice set against the black sand really makes the photo. Link to comment

alfbailey 4 Posted July 6, 2011 I like the movement of the water and the starkly contrasting foreground ice formation. The further lumps of ice are good distant focal points. It would be interesting to know the time of day this was taken?Nice work Alain!Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

AlainD 0 Posted July 7, 2011 Thanks to all of you for your kind words!Stephen: you're right, it's probably a bit dark. I'll check if playing with the levels helps.Alf: this shot was taken around 7 pm in mid-April. I wish I could have stayed longer on that beach to wait for sunset... but the meal was ready in the guesthouse. The interesting thing about the beach nearby Jökulsárlón is that the waves move regularly the icebergs. The landscape changes permanently. What was more delicate here was the need to frame and shoot very quickly because of the waves coming every 5-10 sec. Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted July 7, 2011 Stephen: I tried brightening slightly the image, but I'm not pleased with the result. The impression of depth/relief in the water is partly lost. But thanks for your suggestion! You're definitely right: it IS too dark, but it's the way I like it, I guess. Link to comment
