Outstanding shot, great B&W. The composition is very good. The child stare is very strong despite of his age. Your work is excellent because You have exposed everything  what the child might bring in his inner through this composition and post-processing.

wow- what an intense image. Simply piercing human contact that evokes so much emotion.  The absolute fierceness of this child's presence makes you certain that he has been through so much and that he has the will to survive and overcome anything- or maybe that is what we hope by looking at him in what seems to be a desperately poor situation.  What is also riveting - the hands.  They do not look like his hands - but rather those of an adult - and it draws you back in to ponder the boy more and reflect on how old he has grown in facing what seems to be a difficult and hard life so far.  Stunning work!

When I see an almost epic picture like this, I wonder how anything but a highest rating could be given to it. There is nothing to improve - except for one's own personal issues an/or taste. Unfortunately the highest rating is 7, but I give you that without hesitation.

Indeed the photographer have well seen and engineered the composition here and thats a credit to hem but again I am are there will be a lot to say as far as the exposure is concerned, specially with the sort of textures details lost of the wood in the fore ground and where the child having his hand hanged on.
Nice contents and very interesting atmosphere.

This is a simply brilliant documentary portrait. The detail in the image is stunning and contributes heavily to its classic 'feel'. I simply love the delicate way he is holding the broken screen in his right hand...

Can I offer a critique? No. I think this photo can hold its own with any such image ever published.

Call it a PJ shot or an environmental portrait. Either way, it tells a story very clearly with no words needed really. This is beautifully done

This is one of those photographs that is immediately engaging. You are given just enough detail to be drawn into the picture. There is nothing superfluous and the overall tonal balance is perfect. Photography at its best!

Wonderful photograph and excellent post processing work. I would like to see a bit more the bed (or sofa?) inside the room; after all, the whole scene here is important and not only the face of the kid and it wouldn't be a shame if the eye explored around a little. The hand of the kid is impressive, it looks like the one of an old man. Wonderful shot, congratulations to Istvàn and everybody for this great POW.

I think the reason this image works so well is it's immediate engagement with the casual browser ( like me) that comes from the eyes of the child. They arrest the viewer immediately and invite closer scrutiny. The grim reality of this childs world becomes rapidly apparent in the details and the haunting look from the boy leaves a lasting impression, all the more acute because of the uncontrived nature of the shot. Outstanding photography!

The image engages with the viewer on many levels, and the photogrpaher was able to convey the message he intended or at least to me has imparted enough emotion to make comment. I find the compostion well done, nice use of the rule of thirds and proper or complementary use of black and white. I am sure Color would have worked equally as well but for some reason the use of black and white expresses greater dire in the child's eyes and the overall arching display of of dispair. Well captured and planned... MJ
