Can't say much more than it's an outstanding autumn shot. From shutter speed on the water to excellent DOF throughout.

BTW Walter, a very good family shot as your bio shot

Great shot and composition, Walter, as always. For those who care about numbers, you are fortunate to have had many views and ratings to pretty much negate the 3/4. I normally get at least one 3/3 on each shot, and I think the trolls are leaving those kinds of marks now instead of the really low ones. It's a little less obvious. Of course, in my case, the 3/3 is probably more deserved than in yours, so I don't really worry about it. But for someone to say that the aesthetics on this are below average is a real stretch. I wonder what a seven would look like?

On a related note, I find myself visiting your home page every few days just to see the new pic in your bio. You change that as often as you change suits, no?

Happy New Year. Best Regards.

Well said Walter. I agree completely. Being relatively new to the site, it's hard for me to offer more suggestions as to the elimination of this ongoing problem.

Walter, I have a similar troll problem. They hit with low numbers and run. Usually though, I don't get the rude comments. It is a downer though to get a low rating. On my latest posting I have a 4/3 and a 7/6; the 7/6 is not from a regular rater of my work. I hope this problem can be resolved as I have received as low as 1/1. Thanks for listening to my gripes. I keep getting 3/3's too, but in my case they may be well founded :)

Of your recent posts, I like this image the best.

I love the way the foliage wraps and frames the flowing water and the small falls. The warm colors work well and the intensifying filter does it without photoshop. A purest approach. :-)

The only change I might suggest is a slight lightening of the foliage in the area on the ledge to the right of the falls. This would complete this visual wrap and make it stronger.

Well done!

Thanks for your comment on the latest foggy image.

"...Completing the visual wrap...", I like that! Thanks Miles for the tip. Regards.

Walter, first let me say that this is just about perfect, aesthetically and technically. Your exposure is superb and I know how difficult this was to properly expose considering the location. The colors are perfectly saturated. Wonderful is all I can really say.

Now about the troll issue. I have noticed recenlty that these trolls are getting wiser. They no longer leave 1/1s or 2/2s because they know that their rate will be flagged and an admin will probably delete it. So, they rate a safe but still low 3/3 or 3/4. I have voiced my disgust with this type of sick behavior in a forum post, only to be called a whiner and it wasn't even my photo I was speaking of that got the low rate. Sometimes I feel a photo's rating has more to do with luck than aesthetics/originality. Lucky if a troll is not rating photos at the time your photo is posted and unluck if the troll is.

Will, in addition to your comment regarding my photograph, thank you for taking the time to read through the above comments. I fully understand about being called a "whiner" in the Feedback Forum. I and others had frequently spoke out against the rating abuses (both high and low) on this site. We were not only classified as "whiners" but were banned from posting any more in that forum. The ban that was imposed on me expired with the New Year's begining, but others are still under suspension.

The reason you do not see trolls handing out 1's and 2's is because Mottershead has effectively negated those ratings for everyone. In other words, you can give a very low rating (be honest, a few photographs deserve them) but they do not enter into the database. The very low ratings have been universally suspended on this site. It is Mottershead's way of countering the abuse. Frankly, I do not agree with his methods.

Ms Mar and Mr Rupp, thank you for your visits and kind comments. They mean a lot to me. Regards.

I want to totally LOSE myself in this image. I am so ready for spring!! Walter, the essence of color and leaves combined with the waterfall is exquisite here. Definitely a winner!!

Smashing shot, Walter, the place seems to reach and envelope the viewer. You have got the big tonal range nicely here with lots of dark colours and the white of the water.

Thanks Jen...I like snow as much as the next guy but if Spring arrived tomorrow that would be okay with me; and I'm in a relatively mild weather zone compared to you!

Thank you too, Colin, for the visit. Because of my familiarity with the 6x7 I feel that, for now, I get better results using that format compared to the 4x5. But I think that will change in time. I just hope that film will be around long enough for me to develop my skills, so to say. I hope both you and Jen had an enjoyable holiday season. Regards.

Just WOW Walter. While a little more water would have been nice for the falls, this one is awesome just as is. Super colors with a perfectly chosen composition!

I can see I have missed not much of anything with the same ole trolling. Whats the song again?

Rolling rolling rolling... keep those trolls a trolling, raw-hide!

Howdy Walt! I've been swamped at work, so I haven't been online as much lately. But I love your nature scenes. You make shots like this look easy ... yet I can never duplicate the feel. I really love the colors and detail you've captured here.

I keep visiting your page to see if you have posted some new work, Walter, but alas not. Have you given up on PN altogether? That would be a shame!

Somehow, you made it off my "Interesting Photographers" list. It'd be paranoid to think there were pixies at work, there? So, I haven't seen updates from you - but alas, not too many of late! Awesome page design, though!

And this particular image, just brilliant.
