djl251
I am currently developing my HIE in HC-110 dilution B at 68F for 5 minutes after exposing at iso 1.5 to 6, using a 1000nm filter. I find that the grain structure is not objectionable except for uniform grey areas like sky and clouds. Has anyone been successful in reducing grain size using a different development technique? Thanks for your consideration.<div></div>
wieslaw1
Yes, I always use Microdol-X, develop for about 13' at 20°C.
luis_martins
i've used xtol with good results. i found hc110 would give me too much grain ...
gene crumpler
I've developed HIE in technidol which gives good grain and lower contrast. Contrast is always a problem with IR films. The best compromise is 120 MACO 820 through a R72 filter and developed in diafine. The draw back is the E.I. is only 4, so bring the tripod. This combo will go to 16x20 with decent grain.
