mapdock Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 I have a Super Program that I'm learning to use, and would love to know about any online resources folks are aware of out there. Topic areas I'm interested in are lenses that fit this model (I've been told it used Pentax 'A' lenses...) and general accessories. I'm still a little fuzzy on how this camera fits into the larger world of Pentax Manual SLR models. --Matt P
Jochen_S Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp taken from a earlier question. Nice camera, was my 1st SLR. Winder ME or similar 3rd party is a pain to use. Motordrive A is quite nice; maybe contact trouble with NiCads. It takes really all lenses, even latest AF (but AF lenses are harder to use) With simple M lenses you have less features but still lots of fun.
stemked Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Matt the reason you want A, F or FA lenses for this camera is that you can then use the camera's TTL flash, full program exposure, and shutter priority. Otherwise with older lenses you get everything else (manual and aperture priority). I still have two of these cameras. I have used both the Super A moter drive and Moter Drive II. I used to set them up with the long cords and photograph birds at feeders with these setups. Now I generally bring one as a travel backup camera because they are so small and full featured.
lon_williamson Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 A bit of amplification to Doug Stempke's response. First of all, TTL flash will work with any lens you can mount on a SuperProgram. Second of all, Pentax K and M lenses will work in aperature priority and manual modes. You give up shutter priority and the "program" mode with these older lenses, and what you gain is, typically, much better build quality.
david j.lee Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 nice camera. i have a black superA with motor drive. it is a pleasure to use in the vertical position with the shutter on top. the last lens i got for this camera is an 85m f 1.8 super takumar. great for portraits!!
lee_brand Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 OK Camera - the viewfinder is a bit dull and it is difficult to see what is going on sometimes. The little light switch is hard to find and does not work so well anymore. Takes good shots with good Pentax glass. The Pentax A's are nice to have but not essential.
