Digital Pentax?

Hello - I stumbled onto this site whilst trying to find out

whether pentax make a digital camera which will accept the Pentax K

fit lenses. I have two SLR's and four or five lenses.

However I recently purchased a 3.2mp point and shoot and am

really impressed with results. So rather than sell all my stuff, I

thought it would make sense to do some research about the

afformentioned camera. Thanks very much.

Brian,

This has been discussed as noted by the previous poster. Briefly, look at the bottom of your lens. If all you see is a metal plate without any round electrical contacts, technically a K or M lens (Pentax designation), then you will have trouble (although not impossible) using this lens on the new *istD. If you do have the contacts the lens will work fine, although Pentax designated 'A' lenses won't autofocus.

Thanks to all - I found some info on the istD and yes it is supposed to accept the K type lenses. I also found that these lenses could not be used to their full potential on the digital SLR's. I think I'll wait a while for full development and for prices to reduce.

Regards

BRian. You mention waiting until "full development". I assume you mean when the older lenses are 100% supported. I would guess, just as with Nikon, Canon, etc..) that once they make the switch to digital connections tfrom camera to lens, the older lenses will never be 100% supported. Just something to keep in mind
