evan_parker
I'm a lazy bum, so I normally don't bother rinsing in a wetting agent after I'm done rinsing. However, I broke out some good old Photo-Flo at 1:200, bathed it for 30 seconds, and poured it back in the bottle. My negatives are now curling AWAY from the emulsion instead of towards it! What the freak is going on?
fast frankie
Hi Evan, I've found over the years that when film curls, it is usually due to the fact that one side is drying faster that the other. Humid conditions generally cause the film to curl away from the emulsion. I think this is because the emulsion retains moisture longer than the base. The film will usually stabalize and flaten naturally. If not fast enough, rewet and try again. Frank
chris_waller
I use wetting agent (Paterson) and I would never dream of drying a film without the prior use of it. My negs beging by curling slightly away from ther emulsion and then as drying proceeds, the other way so that the emulsion side is concave at the end of the drying process.
