Cable shutter realease for Nikon thread size

This is what I dug up:

The vast majority of cameras use the standard thread, where the cable release has a 5/32” tapered male thread. This standard has been around for well over 100. years!

Tapped an aluminium cycle tube dust cover  (The longer 17mm one)  then fitted it to my Nikon E2 extension ring, had to re thread the inside thread to 8mm which I suspect is not the right size thread but it goes on and it was all I had.

works perfect.
