Sanford
Does anyone use the simulated rangefinder mode found on the X100/X-Pro series cameras? When, why? Is it just a gimmick or does it have any advantages over an electronic viewfinder?
ericphelps
I've never understood the excitement over the X100 hybrid viewfinder, I use the EVF view I guess, but six other views wouldn't be much different for me, aperture priority seems more important. Perhaps I've gotten lazy, but if there's a major diff between what I saw and what I wanted to see, LR Classic takes care of it. 1 Why do I say things... c_watson1
All the time. Like the non-WYSIWIG/outside-the-frame view. Saves batteries.
Gerald Cafferty
You have choice what's not to like. I tend to use OVF with the information overlay, it gives all the info but saving battery life over using solely the EVF.
Sanford
I tried to use it some last Friday but didn't see the point. The electronic viewfinder seems far superior, WUSIWUG...usually.

Yep with the focal spot on the lower right instead of the center.

glen_h
I don't know about simulated rangefinder, but I did see a Nikon Zfc in a store. It looks amazingly like a rangefinder of years ago, though as far as I know, isn't. The Zf doesn't look quite as much like a rangefinder, though does have some old camera look. 1 -- glen
