Mike Gammill
Set up last weekend for viewing the annular eclipse. Trimmed solar film to use as filters. For viewing I used a 80mm 400mm focal length refracting telescope and for photography a preset 500mm f 8.

Mike Gammill
Another way to view. This is a homemade telescope using a 30mm diameter war surplus binocular objective and a cheap Huygens 20mm eyepiece. This is used to project the eclipse. 5

bruce_z._li2
Two more color photos from my Chicago trip. The Lomo LC-A 120 sometimes does double exposure "accidentally" and all by itself, as if it has a mind of its own. But I rather like the random double-exposure shots. And it kinda fit the "Gotham City" vibe pretty well. Chicago impressions 1 Chicago impressions 2 8 1
mjferron
Minolta XD5 135 and 28 mm lenses. Backyard test shots with iffy camera. Film was Kentmere Pan 400 and to accent the grain I developed it in Rodinal which to be honest did not make it look any more grainy than other developers. (Tropical downpours off and on most of the day. The backyard was a lake.) Edited October 27, 2023 by mjferron

chuck_foreman1
Back again this week with more thrilling views from earlier this year... I am generally behind... This time I will be featuring my Pride and (new) Joy. The Contax IIa. I've owned a colordial now for over 10 years, but suffice to say it hasn't always worked right, and attempts to get it properly repaired resulted in halfway measures.. albeit never charged but often in-convenienced at times like years?? . A few months back I stepped back from working and now I am a man of leisure. I was thinking I should take this to another repairman and "pay" to have it repaired. While piddling around a blackdial came up with a Sonnar 1.5, with shade and a 35mm finder. All of this for what I paid 10?? years ago for the colordial and a pre-war Tessar. (350€) . I took the plunge. I do like using this very nice gear. My beautiful colordial can do 100th and under, but the three gear shutter has never worked properly. The other aspects were guite good , very smooth and all. The new blackdial is even smoother. I will add (too many images) and will identify which camera lens combo... My usual APX100 in D76 1:1. I give my "what cameras are you using..." ..after the fact. Poor planner too!! The Color Dial with its Tessar.. it does have light fog, but it is generally ok in the right light The Black Dial.. the sender was from this region (North Germany) and wrote a nice message to me 35mm finder and hood on the colordial Mischmasch-up on my windowsill Two post war IIas at the back and the older slrs in the foreground Hof Garten Monument to Heinrich Heine - Colordial Jupiter 8 Hofgarten Colordial Jupiter 8 Askance view Altstadt (OldTown Düsseldorf) Jupiter 8 Statues.. also in the Altstadt (Jupiter 8 colordial) Blackdial with 1.5 50mm Sonnar with yell filter (too dark!) all - rangfinder reading test Two other views were too close, and failed to fill the frame... curse of the RFs Using the Sonnar 1.5 speed here in the shadows. This statue is Wissenschaft (goddess of?) Knowledge Another use of the speed.. this might be wide open.. Street muscianas, good two part harmonies.. drum was tastefully used Schauspielhaus (theater) Ok.. I did alter this image a bit..took a long scratch out of the sky.. Nice to see some results from your "new" Contax. Have you been using the shade that you showed on the 50 mm lens? That one is actually for an 85 mm f/4 Triotar or 135 mm f/4 Sonnar, so I wonder if you have had any issue with vignetting. I actually use longer ones with my 85 and 135 lenses to minimize lens flare. I was ignorant of its proper use, but I do have the original box.. more ephermera as use here I suppose 😉 I have the russian 85, and the 135's are among the most reasonably priced Zeiss lenses ... Thanks for the info!! Edited November 2, 2023 by chuck_foreman1

Thanks for the info!! If you like the 135 focal length, the 135 f/4 Sonnar is definitely a good lens. The post war aluminum barrel versions are fairly light weight and focus to a useful 5'.
