Film Camera Week for Sept. 22

Recommended Posts

Greetings, all, and welcome to our new thread.  Post all the images you like from any film camera.  No new images this week so I pulled some older images from 2018-2020 that were taken with a Pentax ZX-7.  Lens and film noted in caption.

I took the Konica II B-m loaded with Kentmere Pan 400 for a walk today. Film was developed in HC110.

Local filling station. The treads hanging down are the result of me using a cheap refillable cartridge.

I've been trialing the Adox FX-39 II developer over the past few weeks, adjusting dilutions, temperatures and times, and I think I've taken this as far as I can. I like the developer very much, but I don't think it's going to replace my good old PMK Pyro as my standard developer. I don't feel it's really suitable for films faster than 100 ISO, as it has a tendency to accentuate grain as a downside to the very sharp images it produces, and I wouldn't recommend it for landscapes or portraits if a soft and full range of tonal graduations is required. However, it's certainly capable of producing images with extraordinary "pop" that have an arresting, almost three dimensional quality to them. I'll continue using it for subject matter that will be enhanced by this quality.

Here are six images from the final trials. All were shot on Arista EDU Ultra 100, the first three from a Nikon F100 with a 28-105 Tamron AF (IF) f/4-5.6 lens, and the remainder from a Canon T90 with a Tamron Adaptall-2 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 (Model 40A) lens.

I picked up the Ektar 90mm f/3.5 for my Kodak Ektra and after re-lubing the focusing helical took it out for some quick shots to confirm the focus was correct.

For what is only a three element air spaced triplet, this lens is almost painfully sharp. I don't know why I'd expect otherwise though, I've never encountered an Ektar I didn't like.

Film was FP4+ in HC-110B.
