hjoseph7 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I noticed that the Main Dial on my Canon 6D is getting stiff. This is propbably from having to shoot manual all the time on the job. The other day, it was so stiff that I took a chance and sprayed it with some lubriquant. This helped for a couple of days, but now it's stiff again. It's not that I can't use it at all, but I'm thinking that sooner or later the thing might freeze-up on me and I might have to take it in. This is the first time that this has ever happened to me with a digital camera ?
dmanthree Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Normally the opposite happens. The more use, the looser it gets. Might be time for a trip to service.
hjoseph7 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) There is no way I can do this job myself ! Take a look at the repair video ( although this one is for the 50D) : Edited July 11, 2023 by hjoseph7
AJG Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 If I were you I would get a repair estimate and see how much it would cost. If it is a lot, then it may be time to think about replacing the body if you have good lenses for the work that you do with it. Canon DSLRs are going for a lot less money since Canon has switched to mirrorless, so if you're happy with the camera the best thing might be to replace it with the same or a newer DSLR that hasn't seen professional use.
