Xícara de Café
Dear Nikon forum, I received a EN-EL15 battery for my D610. It came with a note from the seller that the battery should be charged for a full uninterrupted four hours on its first three charges. Does that sound correct? Or just charge normally until the lamp on the charger stops blinking? Cheers and enjoy your Sunday,
mike_halliwell
Is it a genuine Nikon battery or a clone?
Xícara de Café
Hard to tell. Seller says it's original. Box looks good as does the battery itself. Looks exactly like the old one.
mike_halliwell
I have a vague memory of advice to run it down to empty, rather than keep on topping it off, for a few cycles to improve capacity and allow the body to calibrate the charge 'life'. The chip in a genuine battery understands and communicates with the body.

ShunCheung
If you post an image of the flat side of the battery with all the wording, perhaps we can identify it. The original EN-EL15 has been discontinued for several years, in favor of the EN-EL15A in 2017, followed by the B and now C. It seems unlikely that you can find a new one now. glen_h
I haven't done enough tests, but sometimes it seems to me that Li-ion batteries take a few cycles before they are up to full capacity. Without actually trying to figure out how long, how many shots, or whatever, each one gets. -- glen
