Niels - NHSN
Given the current popularity of Instax, I take it I am in minority when saying Polaroid images sucks. It is such a generic look and the colours haven't aged well - it is a shame. Interesting never-the-less to see what the old master was up to late in life. Thanks. samstevens
What strikes me is how a range from signs in a window to roadway writing to portraits can reflect the consistent and personal approach of a photographer like Evans so deeply. I can see why he was drawn to Polaroid, as other photographers of the time were, and also how he recognized its qualities and tailored them and his use of this camera to his steadfast vision. Thanks for the link. "You talkin' to me?"

I read this article yesterday, and it did indeed intrigue me. It seems to me that it is the everyday, any place, common elements taken out of their larger context that he was capturing. There is also a sense of place and awareness--a slightly worn and seedy environment of pavement, abandonment, and peculiarity. This I see evoked in his people photography as well. We are seeing where he was in life... 1 "I See Things..." The FotoFora Community Experience [Link] A new community for creative photographers. Come join us!
