How do you use reflections to your advantage while taking a pic or in the darkroom with black/white film?

Being new to photography and taking an Intro to Photographic Medium course in college, I am intrigued with reflections. If you want to show a reflection in your picture, are there any pointers that you could share so its reflected beautifully once printed? Perhaps a trick in the darkroom? Thanks in advance!
