  1. Thanks so much for your response. I am compiling all this good information into a power point for my photography class, so Ive been making a lot of bullet points. Advise has made me dive deeper to understand concepts. We are working with 400 ISO right now, and I know everyone has an interest in continuing to better ourselves as much as possible. We have certain projects we need to do with a certain number of prints due every two weeks. You start to learn from your mistakes quickly. I like your analogy of driving, eventually I get there. Thanks so much!
  2. I love this and I will add this to my presentation along with so many things you have mentioned ! Thank you!!
  3. Thanks for taking the time to answer me!! I read about the histogram, and you explain it perfectly. I followed what you were saying for the most part and will investigate the rest!! Now I know I really need to focus on this. I will take all your advice, and hopefully get that flying suacer pic:-)
  4. This is exactly what I was hoping the class would teach me, the foundations needed to take photography to another level once I switch over. I love dodging and burning, so I suppose I will have to learn how to apply that in digital form. Is this just with software programs that help process or manipulate pictures?
  5. Hello! I am in a beginner photography class where we are using 50mm cameras with black and white film. As of now we are developing the film in the darkroom as well. I am looking forward to getting a color (digital) camera but would still like to use what I was taught and bracket my pictures, etc. What do you think would be beneficial to know in doing this, as a beginner in photography? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello there, I am new to this forum but I found this site because of my professor and class assignments. There are talented students at colleges that would print these for you, possibly as an assignment by a teacher for extra credit or side cash? We have access to the machines to process prints.
  7. What's your best "finishing technique" you could advise on a black and white film printing in the darkroom?
  8. What is the most important thing you learned about "finishing" a black and white print in the darkroom?
  9. In my presentation I will bring up your suggestions. I will search this black cat book next. I love the photo too:-) I intend to mention the sunny 16 rule so it's nice to see an example. Thanks for your time!!
  10. Thanks for your advice! My professor went over things but wanted us to eventually use our light meter. I hoping there were tricks, and someone told me about the sunny16 rule. I was able to take a similar photo and I dont think it turned out horrible to start out.. See photo and thanks again!
  11. I will definetly ask my professor about this, and to elaborate. I will look into this as well!!:-)
  12. I thank you for your input, I do have a book that was required for class but also a presentation I need to make allotting the comments of this particular thread. I do like to go back and and reread certain parts and reference back when I need it though:-)
  13. Thank you for your input! I love what you said and will mesh it into my presentation to my class. I purchased an older camera, and we need to get down to basics in this class with knowing aperature, shutter speeds, bracketing, etc.. along with darkroom techniques. It's been fun so far!
  14. Thanks for your input! I will share this information with my class in a presentation. It was very helpful. Thanks!
