Nikon Wednesday 2022: #29

Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: Guidelines for Nikon Forum Wednesday Image Threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit.

I know, I know, I was supposed to swear off air show images for a bit. But I didn't get in any fresh work this last week, and I saw in the news that the Blue Angels just assigned their first ever female demo team member. Lt Amanda Lee joins the team and will be flying one of those shiny blue Super Hornets with the very best. So, just for fun, here's a recent shot of #6 getting VERY close to super sonic over Annapolis. Careful there, number six!

So I guess this is technically another Wayback Wednesday, always optional!

Ha! There goes your job in marketing...:D

To the contrary, Mike. A good advertisement has skin, almost, to perfection, today, especially if it is for clothing or beauty products. The minor imperfection is placed, sometimes artificially, to accentuate the perfection.

The portraits that you see with many skin wrinkles, usually but not exclusively, are of men. But either of men or women, they are usually done for art. They are not the portraits that family keep on thier desks at work or in the house.

For sure. although I am a believer in skin that looks like living flesh and not plastic, I do keep a heavily retouched portrait of a former spouse that was, well, pretty glamourized.

See what can be done these days

I saw this in the original issue of Popular Photography. I have been a long-time subscriber.

For those who do not read the fine print (look under the fixed picture insert bottom right), this was published in the APRIL 2005 issue - the April's Fool issue. If you did not "get it", do not feel too bad. If I remember correctly, a few months later Popular Photography published several letters from irate readers (who did not recognize the original photo for what it was) decrying the changes made.
