weird cool effect

Hi everyone!

I have recently developed an Ilford Delta 400 with ID11 on my old Paterson tank. Unfoutunately, part of the film got trapped in the spool and part of it was underdeveloped (sort of). It seems like the deepest shadows were underdeveloped, giving an interesting effect to it. I wonder how could I reproduce that in a controlled environment. Im also including a reference I have seen from a poster of a movie I watched recently that has something similar...

My appologies for my bad writing, english is not my mother language.. =(

Pseudo solarisation is where the film or print (easier with a print) is exposed to light part way through development.

In this case however, it looks as if you just haven't fixed the film enough. The fade of effect from edges to middle of the film is typical of bad fixing.

I bet if you re-fix the film the effect will dissolve away.

FWIW. Pseudo-solarisation is dead easy with an image editor that has a curves tool.

Original.
