ShunCheung
This is the additional weekly image thread for the Nature Forum. While images posted to this thread should still be nature in theme, it may contain a small amount of human-made objects and therefore less restricted than the Monday in Nature threads. Please see this discussion for more details: Alternative weekly thread in Nature forum Each participant please post no more than just one image per weekly thread. Time goes fast, as almost 2/3 of 2019 has passed. We are approaching the end of the summer and the white pelicans are migrating back into northern California.

PuntaColorada
If you didn't point it out, I might not even recognize that is a hornet nest. The color just blends into the statue. This was in our garden in northern Ontario. I walked by it many times until the buzzing got my attention. White-faced hornets give a very painful sting. GlennS
The bombs from the other end can be washed off the hood of a BMW, not like the dent when they use it as a bombing target for cracking open a clam. Most of the time they use rocks or pavement as targets, but sometimes cars get in the way. Tony Parsons
Apparently, some crows have been known to drop hard-shelled food items on highways, then swoop in to pick up the bits once the cars have crushed them.
