On the topic of resurrection of old threads of any kind, I think the "reanimation of dead tissue" is sometimes perfectly justified when the thread is informational.

 

On the other hand, reanimation of some particular frequently asked questions seems often to be accidental since the re-animator is answering the OP when that OP is long gone. As I said, making the date of original post the default order (newest at the top), rather than the date of the last answer would help. The more recent tactic of closing a thread has a lot to be said for it as well.

For many threads, even though there is an OP and (usually) question, the discussion is for everyone.

 

There are some threads that don't age well, but most do.

 

"No words" should be mostly timeless.
