Leslie Reid Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension. A question for all of you: I’m thinking of posting two threads next week, (1) the regular Wednesday Landscape thread and (2) a New Year’s “Best of 2018” thread, in which each of you could repost your own photo that you were happiest with from this past year of Wednesday Landscapes. Any interest in the latter? I figure we need at least five people who are interested in participating to make it worthwhile. Anyway, I was back at Patrick’s Point State Park for sunrise yesterday—here the sun was sending shadows of a Sitka spruce stand across a meadow of bracken fern. 4
Glenn McCreery Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Teton Range yesterday morning. I too am in for two posts next week. 5
gordonjb Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 If the second thread were to be open to my best landscape photo of 2018, I would participate. Since you restrict the thread to already posted images from past weeks, I am not interested. Cape Breton Highlands, back in September. 5
Leslie Reid Posted December 26, 2018 Author Posted December 26, 2018 If the second thread were to be open to my best landscape photo of 2018, I would participate gordonjb brings up an interesting point, particularly since some participants in the weekly thread are relatively new to the thread. My original intent for the “Best of Wednesday Landscapes 2018” was to distill people’s favorites from the weekly thread, in which a lot of photos that were posted in 2018 weren’t necessarily made in 2018. A “Best of” thread devoted to photos made in 2018 would exclude many photos that have appeared in this year’s weekly thread. How’s this for a work-around that would allow anyone to include their favorite landscape photo from 2018: find it and post it in this week’s thread, then repost it next week in the “Best of” thread. If you’ve already posted a different photo in this week’s thread, no problem—it’s OK to post more than one photo in the Wednesday Landscapes thread. Does that sound workable? or would people rather we use a different scope for a "Best of" thread? And gordonjb, I always look forward to seeing your photos, and I would love to see your favorite from the year.
gordonjb Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Leslie, I wasn't looking for you to change your parameters, I was just offering the requested response to your idea. That being said, your work around seems fine by me. I appreciate you maintaining this thread for us and I look forward to posting each week.
jimradja Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 I don't think I've posted this one yet on this site. From September. 5
jpalmer57 Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Not sure this meets everyone's definition of 'landscape', it does mine. Composite of two images taken with Sigma DP2 Merrill. Difficult to get the right perspective without standing in the water. 2
