rick_drawbridge
Nice work with the CM-4 and the Cosinon, Tony. I'd agree with your summing-up of the Chinon; it's a very user-friendly camera that let's you get on with the job without unnecessary frills and fuss. Both Chinon and Cosina seem to be placed in a lower echelon of kit, but considering Cosina was one of the biggest producers of both lenses and cameras for the Big Names, and in light of my own experiences, this is hardly justified. If you're looking for a similar PK mount camera I'd suggest the Vivitar 3000S might be a likely contender.
Tony Evans
Thank you Rick. I will certainly look at the Vivitar suggested. Tony . Tony Evans
donald_miller5
Some new things for me..Checked some internet sites for setting Vuesacn parameters since vuescan presets are not always valid. Used Afgar Plus 200 for the first and lengthed C41 developer about 10 seconds atand a touch warmer (about 0.5 to 1 degree F.. Changed the order of steps oon PS Elements doing color saturation auto first and I am extremely happy with what I gou. Zorki 6 with Industar N-61 lens. Pinklather
Really nice breezeway shot, Mike, Kent - 'looks like a huge, beefy whippet. 'Handsome beast well captured. James, morning fog is lovely, and you didn't miss a tone on MSU. Erko - dang. I would have guessed the Fuji, but you took no prisoners w/ that Canon. 'First two are killer. M42Dave - These are interesting - espec. the first. I stopped using Fuji w/out a polarizer 'cause the palette was too harsh (saturation) for me. The blue door & windowframe in the 2nd shot is strong, but still pleasing. That first shot has me staring like a cow at a new gate. Composition & execution are wonderful. 'glad to see the historic bldgs, Richard. Nicely done. 104etc - I should learn to load my film so wrong. Gate/Fence shot is nice, Bertliang. 'Don't know why I like it, but sure do. Sigh. If the clarity & tones are making you cry - its probably Rick's. Panels II & Sales & Service are killer. Tony - those cosinon shot make me think you're hanging out w/ Rick too much. :)

rick_drawbridge
It took me a second look to spot the subject among the sunflowers, Pinklather! Tony Evans
Rick, Could it be the old Featherston Factory where my parents used to stop and buy those big blocks of Cheddar around 1945-55. Great stuff (the cheese too). T. Tony Evans
rick_drawbridge
Tony, No, this one is in Greytown, on the Bidwill's Cutting Road that leads to Martinborough. The Featherston factory is long gone. I miss those local cheddars... It's all "boutique" or "artisan" cheeses, these days!

Mike Gammill
Great photos everyone and a really good start for our weekly thread. Keep those images coming. I'm scanning some film that I processed earlier in the week so I should have some more to post shortly. Also still have some more 120 from a few years back to scan. Pinklather
Bradlley, that shot of the mongolian girl is superb. Rick, thank you. 'Don't know if you've tried other short zooms, but I'm underwhelmed by my 28-70 3.5-4.5. It won't hold a candle to my cheap Quantaray 70-200. Something crisp in the 24-80mm range would be handy. If you know of any winners there, pls. let me know. I'm using an old Fe2.

Mike Gammill
Pinklather- not a lot of 24 to short tele zooms. Of course, Nikon's own 24-120 would work manually on the FE2, but haven't tried it (I have an FE2 also). Vivitar offered a 24-70 Series One and Tamron had a 24-48 Adaptall Not sure if that would fit the bill.
James Bryant
With my FM2n camera bodies I have to be sure the lens has an aperture ring. Many of the newer Nikon lenses don't have aperture rings. I can use the G lenses on my F6 but not the new E lenses.
rick_drawbridge
Pinklather, as Mike pointed out, there don't seem to be too many manual zooms in the 24-80mm range . One of my favourite short zooms is the Tamron Adaptall II SP 28-80mm f/3.5-4.2 (model 27a), an exceptional performer, and the Vivitar Series One 24-70mm f/3.8-4.8 is highly regarded, and rather sought-after, Another of Cosina's fine products, as I recall. Mike Gammill
If using a auto focus lens manually on an FE2 is acceptable the Tamron 24-135 might work. I think it was made before the G series Nikkors so it should have an aperture ring. Not a fast lens, though, as it's an f3.5 to f5.6.
