dominik_lazarski
Does anyone know of a 3rd party fixing Nikon scanners? Mine no longer scans strips of 6 frames when ICE is on. It'll do one by one, so I'm thinking something wrong with automatic advancing of the film? I sent it to Nikon for service but they said they no longer have parts. bgelfand
Have you cleaned the SA-21 Film-Strip Adapter per the instructions in the manual (pages 54 and 55 of the English version of the manual)? Pay particular attention to the sensors (see page 55). Since the problem may be software related, reset NikonScan to factory defaults and see if that makes a difference.
dominik_lazarski
I finally got around to downloading the manual and cleaning the adapter. It worked! Thanks so much for the advice. I am surprised that Nikon sent it back saying it needed a new board but parts were no longer available.
dominik_lazarski
Posted too early haha. I let it scan a strip of 6 and it doesn't work but for some reason it doesn't stop scanning after first frame. So I guess cleaning did some good. I suppose I need to switch to using B&W film :(

The SA-21 strip film adapter works better with nikon scan software, with vuescan all pictures are out of frame most of the time. its possibly to use nikon scan on win10 or 64bit operative systems. Yes, you can use Nikon Scan under Windows 10 64-bit; I am doing it. 1) Download the Windows Vista version (4.03) of Nikon Scan from this link LINK https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/ni/NI_article?articleno=000002646&configured=1&lang=en_US 2) Since you have VueScan installed, Nikon Scan will use the VueScan drivers to access Coolscan 5000. The drivers that are part of the Nikon Scan package are the part that fail under Windows 10. 3) Install the Windows Vista version you downloaded in step 1, but DO NOT install the Nikon Scan drivers; there is a box to uncheck during the installation. Nikon Scan will run in 32-bit mode under Windows 10 x64. Also try cleaning the SA-21 per the instruction in the Coolscan manual; pay particular attention to the sensors (see pages 54-55 in the English section of the User's Manual).
