A good deal?

I have been offered the following by someone I know who is selling off his gear:

 

Hektor 135/4,5 with VF

Elmar 90/4 no VF

Elmar 50/2.8 with VF

Summaron 35/3.5 no VF

Hektor 28/6.3 with VF

Superangulon 21/4 with VF.

 

all in good condition visually and glass.

 

all for $2900 or i guess that works out to 2700 Euros for the guys on that side of the pond.

I've got a camera to use them on of course! lol

 

 

The "Why?" isn't important. My question is, does seem like a good deal to you guys for someone who would like a set of LTM lenses like this [Me! <img src="http://cdn.l-camera-forum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png" alt=";)" /> ]?

<p>In general, I would say it looks reasonable (I have not done a big ebay research). The 135 and 90 are not worth so much, but the 21 is worth a good deal. The Elmar 50 and the Summaron 35mm are useful and the 28mm seems to be generating more interest these days as Leica are actually reissuing it in the M mount as a collector's item. Then you have all the viewfinders which can cost a lot to buy seperately. I would check out ebay's completed prices and then consider how much you want all of these lenses and their condition. If it checks out (+ or -) I would say yes. It does look like a very nice complete LTM kit. Do you actually want all of these lenses?</p>

Using a Leica screw mount is something of an acquired taste. Presumably you would be buying them as a collector?

<p>I wouldn't pay that much for that set. They're all old screw mount lenses and most of them are likely to have coating issues with cleaning marks and/or fungus in the elements. If not, it'd be quite a find. </p>

If he "threw in" (if i can convince him, which i think i may be able to) an IIIg in good clean condition, would it be worth it then?</p>

<p>strange thing then is on ebay a lot of sellers in Europe and some in south Africa are selling the IIIg with an elmar2.8 or a summicron 50 for over $1500 or around 1400 euros! Some WAY more!</p>

<p>Not cheap for these stuff. None appears valuable except the 21 mm f/4 ($700 ?). Both the 135 mm and 90 mm together may worth less than $100. Ask yourself, would I be using a 135 mm with a VF on a range finder cam ? </p>
