Well it should be time for a Nikon Wednesday full of good warm, showery, sunny warm spring thoughts. Except it's below freezing outside. We're paying for our warm March, I guess. Even so, the local flora is using the late-day sun to shrug off the overnight chill and get some buds and blooms well under way. In keeping with my goal of botanical accuracy, here's a ... uh .... green thing. What've you been shooting? Share!

00drwz-562162484.jpg.127dd12209b5dad56ad9b13e464a485e.jpg

I went to Cley (pronounced Cly, to rhyme with sky) wetlands nature reserve in Norfolk, England recently and took these shots of an Avocet feeding and in flight. I've composited them together as a twitcher's guide. The Avocet feeds by sweeping its upturned bill from side-to-side under the water.

This one was taken in a friend's garden in Norfolk at their bird-feeder.
