Cheers,
Roey

William Michael
I have not seen this before: the lines are not just in the leaves, they appear on the tree trunk also.

A few questions:

1. What is the Shutter Speed of the sample image?
2. What is the Aperture of the sample image?
3. What camera?
4. Was/were there Filter(s) on the lens? If yes what filter(s), exactly?
5. Was the camera hand held?

Thanks,
WW
SCL
FWIW to me it looks more like a camera issue than a lens issue.
roey_yohai2
William,
1/500th at f2.8, iso 200
canon 5d mark3
no filters except a Pro Optic MC-UV filter
yes handheld.
i was also using a 1.4x extender, the canon one, which originally I thought was the problem; but the same issue exists without the extender.

Stephen, the sharp parts of the image do not have this issue; and no other lenses have shown this to be an issue, so I don't think its the camera.
I wish I could post more pictures but its limiting..is there another place to do that?
Thanks guys -
Roey
mark_ethridge
Just to rule it out, have you tried it without the filter?
William Michael
Thank you for answering.

"Just to rule it out, have you tried it without the filter?"

+1

My thinking is the filter is a possible cause at this moment, but, supplementary question (unlikely cause but thinking laterally): Were you near any High-Voltage power lines or Radio Frequency Transmitters?

WW

BTW - by way of mentioning familiarity: I have an EF 135 F/2L USM and both Canon Extenders EF MkII and two EOS 5 Series DSLR Cameras and I have used all possible combinations of the lens and the two extenders and the two cameras.
William Michael

"I wish I could post more pictures but its limiting..is there another place to do that?"

If you have the images posted somewhere else you can link to that site.

You can upload images (JPEG files with EXIF probably the best) to your portfolio:
Go to "MY WORKSPACE" (top left hand of this page)
Open up "Your Photo Portfolio"
Follow the directions to upload Photos. I think that there is a limit per day for non subscribers.

You can add an image to a post on this thread as you have done: but a JPEG file with the EXIF intact is probably better than the png files that you've added.

WW
jim_service
My first thought is that there may be one or more defective blades in the diaphragm.
peter_langfelder
I would suggest taking the lens off the camera and taking a good look through the lens. Look for possible dirt inside (hair maybe?), aperture defects etc.
Robin Smith
Very weird. Never seen anything like this with my 135/2 (or any other lens). I think you have a processing defect (as in RAW processing). Did you use DPP, or Lightroom, or...? Been close to strong magnetic fields?
Robin Smith
