wade_fitchie
Well, looks like i need some help once again. But i can happily say it isnt about MY canon this time. I purchased an ae1 for my girlfriend about 2 years ago off a guy here in my town who owned a kiiiillllller camera shop! He knew his stuff!!!! But sadly shut down right after i got the camera. Any way. For christmas, i snagged a zoom lense for her. Come to find out....it doesnt fit on her ae1! BUT, it fits on MY ae1. I tried swapping the stock lenses. Once again......my lense wont fit on hers!!!! Why is this??! I was looking at the silver ring/lense lock on her camera and assumed that could be why??? Why would any lense i take off my camera, or use on my camera, not work on hers???? Its the same model!!! Everyone who has helped me with my camera issues have been super helpful!!! Im just bummed she has a rad lense, that she cant use......i do feel bad. I also have pictures of it, but im not sure why they arent uploading.... paul_wheatland
Looking at the camera body mount, make sure that the sliding stop down is not pushed in toward the lens mount. This may be the cause!
wade_fitchie
Hmmm....im looking and i don't see what your talking about. I just dont understand how her stock lense fits fine....but any other lense wont fit. But we have the same exact camera.
jose_angel
I have no clue on Canon cameras... but I wonder if we are talking about two different mounts, the FD bayonet and the breech-lock one. But I think it`s about the lenses, not the cameras.
paul_wheatland
Look in owners manual on the 'net concerning operation of stop down sliding lever. This must be disengaged to mount FD lens on her camera.
mark_pierlot
Paul's got it. See a link to the AE-1 manual here.
wade_fitchie
Oook. Found that part in the manual. Honestly. I dont understand what it means. And im really afraid ill break something if i try to figure it out. Looking at both of our cameras next to each other, lens off, everything......EVERYTHING looks identical! Are there any youtube videos exolaining this? Ive been looking for some time and ive come up with nothing!!
