stemked
Hi All.

A repeat image here, but I have a reason.
On and off for the last three years I've entered Indiana's primer nature photography without much success. (the competition is REALLY outstanding)
Anyway you are only allowed to enter three images in this contest so I was delighted this year I received awards for two images, one for a Tui (the bird) from New Zealand and the other a Fleishmann's Glass frog from Costa Rica.

Small miracles DO happen!

Tui, North Island, New Zealand. dorus
Very happy with these kingfishers on my first outing with the Sigma 50-500mm
.

.

.
.
However : the real challenge is to catch them while hunting, that's far more difficult, as the above picture demonstrates....
.

stemked
Thanks Bob! Thanks Harry!

Love the lavender Bob, great perspective.

Fire Department right next to the Mexican restaurant, hmm. Sure it's not just an ad for how spicy the place is?
Clearly the 50-500 out performs the 150-500 which I have, stunning photos, you really show what that lens can do. Our common Kingfisher here in the US is so flighty that I have very few decent photos of them. This wasn't from a blind, was it?

Tim-nice anole. When I lived in Houston around my school they were everywhere. Some girls in my class used to catch them, let them bite their ears and wear them like earnings (at least for a minute or two)

Duane-it does look like Star Wars is in full force (no pun intended). Already everywhere. They might just say December whatever that they have enough money from all the merchandise and aren't even going to play the flick!

anirbanbanerjee
Some great photos this week! Here is one from the south-west coast (Arabian Sea) of India. Tamron 28-75/2.8. With my old K-100D because the K-50 ran out of battery.

<a title="Work" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
dorus
Anirban : your photo is not visible (being a former India-traveller I'm always keen on your images)
Yes Douglas, the kingfisher photos were taken from a hut in a reservation called Oostvaarders plassen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O99sS6K7RU
it's somewhat cheating, but it does deliver nice pics :)

snik75
So many interesting nature shots this week! And people pics too. I revisited the bee location with just my DA 20-40; useful close-up in a pinch! (No crop just levels - its not a macro lens but not bad).
