<p>That's the sigma 50-500mm I bought last autumn, a pleasantly versatile lens.<br />now I'm practising to become a bird-shooter (what's the fancy word again?)<br />Then, Douglas, will you tell me how you get your shells afloat ?</p>

<p>Sure. I used a piece of picture frame matted glass supported on two boxes about 5 inches/12 cm up. Below the glass I placed a piece of colored/coloured felt. I wrinkled it to give it some texture but kept the background out of focus. Then I placed the shells on the glass and shot it a few times like f8/11 using my 100mm DAW macro.</p>

<p>I'd love to head to South America. I might go there next year with a class (Peru), but we'll see.</p>
