royall_berndt
I have a mint flashgun for the C4. To load batteries, you are supposed to squeeze a back plate and then pull it off. Doesn't work. I squeeze like the devil, but the plate just sits there. Should I squeeze it with something drastic, like pliers?
thirteenthumbs
Is it like the one on page 13 of http://www.cameramanuals.org/argus/argus_c4.pdf ? Are you pulling on the correct side? Do not use pliers! Try a #0 slot screwdriver in the gap of the case close to the center and twist gently.
Otherwise post a picture of what flash you have.
royall_berndt
I followed your advice and got into the unit easily. Now, another problem: my M3 flashbulbs are too small for the gun. Would M5s also be too small? If so, what would fit?
thirteenthumbs
The only flash bulbs I ever used were AG1. Looking at page 14 of the user manual linked in my previous post shows a Midget flash bulb adapter. You may need another style of adapter.
This link http://www.graflex.org/flash/technical.html has some vintage information on bulbs.
Look at some of the catalogs for flash bulbs in the library at http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/t.pl
