This week I would like to post some photos from our recent Veterans Day Parade. In light of recent events I am reminded how important the service of our brave men and women in uniform actually is.

All photos on a7, lens listed with each pic. My apologies for posting a couple of extra photos.

John, both of your images are simply lovely. Some of you images are starting to take on a timeless quality and I am reminded of the work of early Pictorialists as I view them. Especially the work you do with trees. The soft focus and dreaminess is very reminiscent of some early Pictorialism, a style of photography I love very much and at times try to emulate myself. Keep up the good work.

David, your first and last stand out (do you know the pics of Saul Leiter?). Thanks for the comment; as ever it's impossible to be satisfied (thank goodness!) and I'm still wondering how to scale up this approach to mountain size. One day.... (I'm more and more convinced that bad weather is a good thing - in a purely photographic sense).

Self Portrait in my Den

I wanted a new photo for my profile page so I took one in my den at home. Part of my vintage camera collection is on display in the rear. Even at 60, I still have the same fire for photography as when I, and those cameras, were younger.

00daS9-559254884.jpg.cc7c68fe1f9606a80f61b40b2c0690d3.jpg

I've finally gotten around to sorting through and massaging photos from an airshow I attended a couple of weeks ago. Photos taken with my Sony NEX 7 and a manual focus Tamron SP 60B 300mm f/2.8 LDIF lens. This is a very small sampling.

The US Air Force Thunderbirds, flying F-16s, were the main event for the show:

This airshow had a lot of WWII-era warbirds in attendance. A B-17, two B-25s, at least a dozen smaller aircraft, and a couple of very rare ones.
One of only two Japanese zeros still flying today

A Messerschmidt Me-262 -- the only operational jet aircraft during WWII. Only two left remaining in flying condition in the world.

An immaculate B17 -- I believe this is a G Model. This aircraft is hangered in Galveston, only about 30 miles from the airshow location.

A very clean B-25 in desert camouflage

An unusual flying formation if there ever was one: a Me-262, P-51 and Spitfire flying over show center.

A spotless Grumman TBF:

An equally immaculate Grumman F7F:

A Douglass SBD:

And a Chance-Vaught F4U Corsair:

I have many more, but these are enough to get the point across. It was a great show, but it was a real challenge getting these pics with my NEX. It was quite a bit more difficult than when I've used a DSLR or SLR at past airshows.

Louis, so that's where Tony Stark got the idea from lol! David, I too am particularly drawn to your first and last shots.

My shots this week are from a recent studio session. You may have seen this type of thing before, but I had to try it for myself, and then put my own twist on it.

00daUX-559258184.jpg.f982d7f0c7ee695aa7fb25ba74a86039.jpg
