denny_rane
I have a Bessler 23C for 35mm film. It has a Nikor 50mm lens.
I am not very hip to darkroom techniques. Is that a pretty decent lens or was it just a "budget" item that came with the original kit.?
Do you guys change that very often.?
Thank You
Alan Marcus
The Nikor50mm enlarging lens is top-notch. This lens will exceed your expectations.

trooper
If it's the ƒ2.8, it will easily outpace your darkroom skills as a newbie. Check on-line for some alignment information on the Beseler as its alignment will influence your results about as much as the optics. A grain focuser is an inexpensive aid for quality, too. Enjoy your new journey!
denny_rane
Thank You. I was not trying to test anybody's Forum Manners...I realize the Nikon/Nikkor connection, but was not sure if THIS was a good piece of glass.
And I misspelled.....it is not Nikor, but El-Nikkor with a Nikon lens cap. The aperture is from 4.0 to 16.0
Thanks Again
larrydressler
Totally different beast then. You need to start this thread over.
john_shriver
Used EL-Nikkor 50mm f/2.8 lenses sell for $20 to $30 on eBay. Worth the upgrade. (Ignore Buy-It-Now prices higher than $30, they are sucker deals.)
lex_jenkins
It's fine. I have the 50/4 EL Nikkor, and the slightly better 80/5.6 EL Nikkor N. No need to replace it now. Use it for awhile. If the darkroom bug bites, then you might consider another lens.
craig_shearman1
Excellent lens. No need to change. As for alignment don't go there yet. Too complicated for a beginner. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
denny_rane
Thanks for all the advice. Yeah...I have A LOT to Learn/Remember. I have not been in a Darkroom since about 1980, and never actually had one of my own.
So I am reading manuals, searching the forums, watching Youtube, etc. etc.
Thanks Again.....I Appreciate It
