<p>I can't imagine how painful it would be if that lava crust broke and your foot with only a sneaker dropped into hot lava. Ouch.</p>

<p>Wonder how many tripods and sneakers he goes through.</p>

That photo has made the rounds since 2013. I'd

assumed it was Photoshopped but apparently it was

real and he staged it for his Facebook cover

photo.

He staged it by putting a little accelerant on his clothes an tripod and lighting it. They are not melting or on fire from the

lava flow. You don't need photoshop to fake these kinds of stunts.

<p>In the age of drones this looks so ancient and crude. We can get same results sitting on a folding chair 500ft away and drinking frozen margarita - no need for burning sneakers anymore.</p>

<p>Really, lighter fluid. lol. I was had. I still enjoyed the shot, even if it was all smoke and mirrors err lighter fluid. Still not the story I was envisioning of the great adventure action photographer throwing caution to the wind for the shot. Maybe just a gag photo gone a little too viral.</p>
