henry_finley1
use any speed you want. 1/60 is just for electronic flash
Matthew Currie
As mentioned, the sync speed of 1/60 applies only to electronic flash. At speeds above 1/60 the shutter, instead of opening all at once and then closing, passes a slit across the film plane, and is never all open at once. The electronic flash duration is shorter than the time it takes for that slit to pass over the whole film, so part of the picture will be black.
peter_simpson1
Nice choice of camera. It should last a lifetime.
steve_bellayr
As for the gossen light meter, which I do have, I prefer the light meter app on my cell phone. It is easier to use.
Wouter Willemse
Shooting in continuous lighting is no different from shooting outdoors - you are not controlling the lights with your camera, so everything works exactly the same way as if the scene would be lit by natural light.
Robert_Lai
I have the cell phone app too, which I rarely use. The Luna Pro F is far more sensitive, does incident light measurement, and is a flash meter. Bulky as it is, it's my favorite meter.

I have the F also. Indestructible camera.
fred_c1
All speeds under 1/60 are also for electronic flash.
q.g._de_bakker
"Above" in this context means shorter, "under" means longer.
mwmcbroom
I agree with Robert Lai completely. I don't care for the cell phone apps, and I much prefer my Luna Pro F for the same reasons as Robert. And I also own an F -- an early one with a 64xxxx serial number. It still works flawlessly. Nonetheless, I suspect I'll be passing it along to my heirs, and they may well be passing it along to their heirs as well.
craig_shearman1
Cell phone apps I've tried don't even begin to compare with a Luna Pro or other real light meter. Sometimes they are accurate, other times they arent' even in the ballpark, at least in my experience. Given the inconsistency, I don't trust them.
jason
I think the Nikon-F is the best SLR ever made.
Practically indestructible.
Suggest you obtain a Users Manual for the Nikon-F.
The shutter lifts up, to allow different synch. with various flash(bulbs).
The "FX" is for electronic flash.
Maximum speed is 1/60th. Can use slower speeds..
100% viewfinder, bright image, so many Nikkor lenses.
Not for nothing this camera destroyed the German Photographic industry.
Sure Leica is around..but it's tiny compared to Canon and Nikon..
My Photomic heads are all dead, so one uses experience, no meter.
Enjoy.
