MattB.Net Posted May 25, 2015 Share Posted May 25, 2015
Whatever it's from I love that waterfall!

This is from our nearby National park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. I was riding my road bike through there one evening because I was in the area anyway and saw the fee station was closing. When I was done I returned with my car and camera (which I don't take road biking) to see how the light was going to be. It was pretty nice!
I also shot some film on a new (to me) 645 but haven't gotten it processed yet.
K-3 & DA* 16-50
<a title="IMGP3191-Edit by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5448/17917891472_57f79f1d35_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3191-Edit" width="640" height="426" />
.
It's been a busy couple of days of shooting photos of the a big local mountain bike race. It was a little stormy but that made the photos better. I wrapped my non-WR Metz flash in a bag and it did ok. Yesterday's 32 Mile race saw the most rain but it still wasn't bad.
K-5 & DA* 60-250
<a title="IMGP2888-Edit by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5469/17994909096_2aa15b160f_z.jpg" alt="IMGP2888-Edit" width="640" height="424" />
.
Today was a hard 64 Mile race on challenging trails. This is my friend winning for a while but I think he mad a mechanical problem later and had to drop out.
K-3 & DA* 60-250
<a title="IMGP4504-Edit by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5321/18063176832_4e12d5cbd0_z.jpg" alt="IMGP4504-Edit" width="640" height="426" />
I also did a lot of individual racer photos but I need to go through them (1200!).

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
stemked Posted May 25, 2015 Author Share Posted May 25, 2015
Hmmm. Looks like you're right about the waterfall. That was what the guide told us. Nice sneaking up on the Heron Yury. Outside of Florida, they usually don't let me get that close.

Great shots Matt. Do you up the contrast with your shots? They have a sort of punch that looks cool.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MattB.Net Posted May 25, 2015 Share Posted May 25, 2015

Great shots Matt. Do you up the contrast with your shots? The contrasty look is probably from the Detail Extractor filter which is part of that recipe. It increases micro contrast to sharpen in a way I like better than the regular LR sharpening and gives that pop. I just have to use a little restraint and not over-do it which isn't hard to do. It also depends on the image, some need a little more than others and some images can't take much at all.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

john_shriver Posted May 25, 2015 Share Posted May 25, 2015
Second photo. I think this will come to be the "standard" view. The hole in the middle represents the void left when he was murdered. I think it also represents a missing heart. Stata Center in the background.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
john_shriver Posted May 25, 2015 Share Posted May 25, 2015
Third view. I see this as a hand reaching out.
I will have to see what I can do with the 15mm lens there. Maybe the 16mm fisheye as well.
I tried the obvious "point the fisheye up;" it wasn't a very interesting result.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
