I'll start us off with a July 4th fireworks display.

00e2LZ-564134484.jpg.b1571277e45c078fad0219899bc2f489.jpg

No fireworks in these, but a very grand American scene. We went to the Grand Canyon in early June. The first two were taken out the window of a helicopter. The last was taken while hiking on the Bright Angel Trail.

00e2Mc-564137684.JPG.f665fa2377ab5c762c364a9cc03561d0.JPG

I've got more cool stuff from the world of fungi. A slug dines on the gills of Amanita rubescens. I see slugs in association with fungi more than any other animal, except maybe fungus gnats. This is the first time I've actually seen one chow down. It went to a few locations via the top of the cap, nibble munching here and there. The head over the edge position was the way this one went about eating. This slug also only ate the outside edges of the gills, at least while I was watching.

00e2PR-564147884.JPG.0fbf8fb01a7a51c9db4b94b2d7d18993.JPG
