Just a shot of some hardware as I do some midnight prep for a shoot in about 12 hours. Doing a spherical pano on the interior of custom special-purpose 40' vehicle. Had to spend some time getting the nodal point set up on the rig you see here, and glad I did it inside where it's warm - will be shooting out in the 20F's and 15-20mph winds, and happy to be minimizing in advance the amount of fiddling with all those metal parts sans gloves in those conditions. With luck, we'll have output that will lend itself to a high resolution 8x8' print for use at a trade show. Yay for parallax-free image stitching. Got any fussy shooting coming up, or just complete? Share!

robert_wayt
Been a while since I've posted here. Was privileged to witness a glorious sunrise on Nov. 8 that included Mount Hood, fiery sky and treetops poking through fog blanketing the Sandy River Valley (Oregon). #1 is a color version captured about a half-hour before sunrise. Noise from my 8-year-old camera is higher than I'd like but I think the shot is passable.

robert_wayt
Here is #2 image, which was about a half-hour after sunrise. Converted to B/W in post-processing. No filters used in either shot.

Matt Laur
Quite a sight, Bob. The best camera in the world in the old D200 you have with you! Glad you were there to catch things in the act.
Matthew Currie
Not so much complication as a bit of a learning curve as I play with my latest indulgence, an 85/2.8 D PC Micro lens. More a tripod rig than freehand, but I took it out for a spin anyway. Still getting the hang of focusing this thing in the tiny D3200 viewfinder.

samuel_lipoff
Bob, your shots are more than passable! The second one looks like the style of a Chinese landscape painting, but unmistakably set in the Pacific Northwest.

User_6502147
As a result of zig zagging Calif and SW in general, I came across some interesting places. This was taken at Bristlecone Forest....and this is one of the 4000yr old trees. Did many panos too. Congrats Roberta, v. nice work.

Kent Shafer
My dad's garage. The other three walls are similarly paneled and cabineted.

Note the golf ball on a string just below the oil painting of the ship. Dad thought a white ball was too garish so painted it to blend in.

5711
alright
here is another animal :) a garden spider.
shot with nikon d3, micro nikkor 55 3.5 with a pk 13 attached.
i used my sb 900, off camera in manual.
i guess this was f11, iso 200 and maybe a 125th to 250th of a second as shutter speed. can't remember rly.
sometimes i did also use high speed sync as those darn nets are beeing waved about by the wind (no wind cover).
this was taken at a small stairway in the middle of the city of vienna, that is very well lit at night and near to the water. lots of bugs, lots of spiders. sometimes people stand there and look at the danube and thensuddenly you hear them scream as they realise that they got spiders crawling all over them.
if you stand there at night for 15 minutes, spiders are crawling on you. at this particular shoot i did count 17 spiders on me, in about 30 minutes.
i am not very fond of spiders so i go there, to get rid off the fear.
it worked quite well :)

see you next wednesday :)

vrankin
Some of today's early entries are so good as to be rated as "revelations" to me (esp. Roberta, Daniel). Last night I worked into the wee hours of the morning playing with (free download through today) Photomatix Essentials. I'm deciding to be more open. With moderation this could be good.
