duane_mills Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014
Here are a few shots to kick off this week. These are from our annual family picnic. Small turn out this year; only 60 of us. Some years over 100 are able to attend. It's hard to get everyone here as travelling to this remote island can be costly and air is the only practical way to get here.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

duane_mills Posted August 10, 2014 Author Share Posted August 10, 2014
And a third…also shot with the HD DA 40…90% of the shots I took were with the 40. Terrific lens for capturing candid moments.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

htarragon Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014
Thanks, Duane. Nice shots! I remember my 50-200, it's sitting right here, but my 55-300 is now what is usually on my K-5. On the theme of candids and portraits, here's a few:
Decisions - mustard? chili? water? soda?

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

htarragon Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014
Dorus - I don't think you'd want to trade your ability to make the normal, extraordinary, for my ability to make the ordinary, nice. I take your willingness to trade as high praise.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

denise_savage Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014
The night sky in Perth (Western Australia) had a great glow on the clouds the other night. Had fun playing with night scenes, which I don't normally get to do. Too many kids to get to bed! From our backyard I got this.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MattB.Net Posted August 12, 2014 Share Posted August 12, 2014
Nice work everyone!

I took my son on his first backpack camping trip over the weekend. He did great and we had a lot of good father-son time. I brought the K-3, da40, da15, and Sears 135/2.8 which makes for a relatively packable kit.
K-3 & DA40
Tired
<a title="IMGP6659 by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3872/14903281223_32a3e1c687_z.jpg" alt="IMGP6659" width="426" height="640" />
.
Morning explorer
<a title="IMGP6687 by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5576/14696879757_b3cb038f69_z.jpg" alt="IMGP6687" width="426" height="640" />
.
K-3 & Sears 135/2.8
Haze in the foothills
<a title="IMGP6716-Edit by Matt Burt, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3898/14883080322_4838c1c820_z.jpg" alt="IMGP6716-Edit" width="640" height="426" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
