paul_wheatland
If you can tell us what the shutter is or is not doing, maybe we can help with a solution or advise that you need to send the camera out for repair. I would not attempt a CLA unless the shutter leaves are oily, than I have a remedy that may work.

thirteenthumbs
My Supermatic service manual does not show how to remove the shutter from the helical mount. Please post a picture of the mount from the rear illuminating the inside of the mount at the shutter. I suspect it attaches with retainer ring like what is used on a lens board.

q.g._de_bakker
Could you not attach it to another, working Medalist and use the lens as it is?
thirteenthumbs
What does the brass pin at 7:30 do? The silver/chrome ring around the rear cell is either a mount ring or the shutter threads into it. The brass pin may push in or pull out to allow the shutter to unscrew from the helical.

The only other possibility is set screws just below the speed ring on the helical. There will be 3 or4 if they exists.

thirteenthumbs
Unscrew the rear lens cell and look at the outer ring. Wrench notches may be hidden by the cell

john_wiegerink1
I went through this situation years ago and here is how I solved it. I didn't have a problem removing the lens/shutter assembly, but couldn't use it on my mini Speed 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 since it was rear cocking. So, I found a cheap 127mm f4.7 Ektar and just mounted the front and rear lens elements in that Supermatic. Worked like a charm! I also double checked the distance from the front lens ring to the rear lens ring while in each shutter to make sure the distance was the same. I'd not worry about the max aperture to much, but would run a roll of film and see if it matches your normal meter setting for a certain film you use. I really never had a problem and just went with what was on the shutter ring. JW
